Default Calendar starts up with wrong date

Yes, Outlook's monthly calendar view shows us five rows.

But October 2006 needs six rows to show the entire month.

You'd need a month with at least 30 days starting on a Saturday to require
six rows.

So, Outlook's month view presents us with the first day of October,
which is a (oops) SUNDAY. The row that contains the first day of
October also includes the last week of September.

Not on my machine. October starts on a Sunday, so the calendar view starts
with the first week of October. The fifth row contains the few days of
October and the first few of November.
