Default Role of MVPs (was IE7 and OE6)

While we are not part of MS, we have been actively involved in discussions
with the relevant MS personnel in terms of product development for many
years. We have been listened to quite a lot and ignored quite a lot. Its a
very frustrating encounter, but it does achieve positive results for the
users ultimately, at least to some extent.

As to knowing MS strategy or not, we usually indicate things that we know
are rather rock solid. For instance MS has made no signficant changes to OE
for years, so there is a good chance it won't ever. Instead the efforts are
being directed towards Windows Mail in Vista and towards the Windows Live
Mail stuff, which is available to XP users.

MS continues to surprise us both favorably and unfavorably.

We may see a few fixes for OE6 in the future (but nothing dramatic, I
assure you)

Could you please explain the role / status of MS MVPs? I thought they
were not part of (employed by) MS in which case your assurance has no
foundation. I have also seen statements like "don't ask me I'm not part of
MS". These two don't sit comfortably together and obviously I'm not clear
on the matter.

Thanks.
