You've got a problem with that one Identity.

Create a new one, set up the accounts in it and import all the email to it.
The switch to it, set up the newsgroups. Once done, delete the old problem
Identity.

The Folders.dbx file is probably damaged causing you to lose the newsgroups.
It contains the hierarchy of all mail folders/subfolders/available
newsgroups/subscribed newsgroups (all news accounts).
