Windows XP

Reinstalling a program usually leaves your data intact. But, it's a
good idea to back up things just in case.

When I downloaded and tried to install KB837009 from the Microsoft
website, I
received a message that in order to install this update, Outlook
Express
Service Pack 1 must be installed. My version of Outlook Express is
6.00.2800.1123. However, when I look for the list of files that have
been
installed, seven (7) required files for SP1 are missing (Msimm.exe,
Oemig50.exe, Oemiglib.dll, wab.exe wabfind.dll, wabimp.dll and
wagmig.exe).
To correct this problem, should I uninstall Outlook Express 6 from the
Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and then install Outlook Express SP1
from
Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (which is installed ) by adding the component
Outlook
Express 6? I tried to repair and reinstall Internet Explorer 6 SP1,
however,
neither of these two options helped. If I uninstall Outlook Express
6, I
assume that I will loose all my settings and data. If so, how do I
back it
up and reinstall the data after I install Outlook Express 6 SP1?
Thanks.
Paul.
