I get 6 'splash' boxes asking me to enter my network password. This
process happens every minute. The only way to bypass it is to close
each window using 'X' button.

I've tried deselecting the faulty account from 'All accounts' and setting up
a seperate group but it didn't work. I've now tried, following your response,
keeping the faulty account in 'All accounts' and unchecking the 'Send mail
items' it allows the receiving of mail without reporting an error. So thats
an improvement. However, I still get the 6 splash windows asking for the
correct username/password. I enter both correctly and press OK. Only to get
the same splash windows.

I've cancelled 48 splash windows in writing this message. ah...
