Can't connect to server, can't export msgs
Troll? Isn't that what your mother raised?

Glad its working.
Make sure you disable the log file now, as it will otherwise continue to
grow and eventually cause problems.

You guys are great. Thanks for your fast answer.
Well, I have enabled a log file as you suggested, but cannot see the
said
log file any where. But doesn't really matter because things are working
now.
I tried to telnet to the ISP's server, as you suggested, and couldn't.
So, I called their support again, did some things to the settings
(sorry,
can't remember what), removed and reentered my account, and Presto -
works.
Thanks you for your help!

First, reinstalling OE is not likely to help. See Ron's message on how
to
backup, which you should do anyway, as your hard drive can fail.
You can enable a log file via Tools | Options | Maintenance to help
diagnose
the problem.
I'd suggest you first see if you can telnet to their server (see
http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...op3telnet.htm). If you
cannot,
then the problem is definitely not OE. If you can telnet, then in OE
try
removing the account, then closing OE (and possibly rebooting) and then
reopening OE and adding the account back again.

1) A short while ago I suddenly couldn't log onto my email server
anymore.
I
try, and get a Logon dialog. I exit from that and an Error msg
appears,
with
"Server Error 0x800CCC90" and "Error Number 0x800CCC92" (in case that
helps
you identity the problem. I've checked the settings out with my ISP
(Sympatico) and they say there's nothing wrong with the settings or
anything
on their side, and that there must be something wrong with my email
reader
(which is Outlook Express 6). I've scanned for viruses and found
nothing.
The
ISP also suggested uninstalling and reinstalling OE. Which leads me
to my
second question...
2) I would like to export all msgs to some recoverable file so I can
uninstall OE. I go File/Export/Messages, and get the instruction that
this
action will export msgs to MS Outlook or MS Exchange. Don't think I
have
either. But I press OK anyway and get an error message "An error
occurred
while initializing MAPI."
So, do you know what might be wrong with my OE? And, if I need to
uninstall/reinstall, how can I first put my messages somewhere safe?
Grateful for any and all tips,
Heather
