Thanks for the response. I tried these suggestions and a whole lot more,
including going back to five days ago with System Restore.

It finally hit me that when it started to bring up the link then
disappear,
it was almost like blocking a pop-up window. My pop-up blocker had been
working just fine [have used the same one for about 2 months now] but in
back tracking, I found that it had auto-updated from version 4.3 to 4.4
yesterday and guess what [yep, there's the problem]. After deleting the
program from the system, everything works fine again. Have emailed the
blocker support to either get a fix, or a download back to the earlier
version.

I gotta remember to stop these automatic updates when I install the
programs.

See if these help fix the problem (assuming you've not omitted info
relating to an install of IE7):

Also might want to see this information from Frank Saunders,
MVP-Outlook
Express:

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use
the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

I'll try to explain this as best I can [I'm late for work already and
will have to review replies later].

As of yesterday, I can not access the internet thru a link in my
email.
When I click on a link, it starts to open the IE window then it closes
[very fast, one second it's starting to open then it's gone]. As a
test,
I sent myself an email with a link to eBay. Can't open it from OE but
if
I save the link to my desktop and click on it, it works fine. As is
usually the case, I haven't changed any settings prior to this
happening.

Any suggestions??? TIA
