I can only reiterate what I said before. The Cancel option, even though it
exists, does not work for most news servers. In most cases, the message can
only be removed by the server monitors. Your message will probably stay
there as long as it is retained on the server.

Sorry to keep on about this, but the message still hasn`t been
cancelled and each time I click "Cancel Message" an email to the
server is generated, but when I open it, there is no body text. Is
that correct?

Thanks
Kate

Thank you so much for the info, Bruce. I followed your
instructions
and received the message re cancellation request being sent to the
server, but, 90 minutes later, it is still there. Is this usual,
please? Incidentally, it isn`t an MSN newsgroup, thank goodness.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Clean Up Now. Select the newsgroup
at the top and then Reset and follow up with a Compact. All the
messages on the server will be downloaded again.

If this is an MSNews newsgroup, Cancel will not remove it from the
server.

I have made the mistake of just deleting a message I posted to a
newsgroup, rather than using Cancel Message, and, of course, the
message is no longer on my computer to cancel. Is it possible to
reinstate it, please?

Thanks
Kate
