Default Delivery Receipt

if configured to respond to delivery receipts, the receiving server sends
it - so the xyz one would respond in your example.

A user a ABC company sends an email to someone at XYZ company, and
requests a Delivery receipt.
Does the mail sever at ABC company send its user the Delivery receipt
after it gets out of the system?
Or does the mail sever at XYZ company sends back the Delivery receipt
after the receiver receives the email?

Let's say both companies are using exchange 2003, with Outlook 2000 on
XP2 SP2.

Someone please shed a light on this question.
Thank you.
