I basically have had the same problem with a little difference. My
messages in a folder for the past several months disappeared. There were
some from further back that were still there. They would come in and I
would see the number that were not read but would not see the messages. I
followed this procedure and it seems to be working now however it did not
recreate the dbx folder. There is a bak with stuff in it but I am not
sure what to do now.

What is the name of the BAK file?
Is it in the folder with the other DBX files or is it in the Recycle Bin.
