Default New computer states importing .pst is noncompatable

Importing and exporting are never the correct way to transfer Outlook data.
Just open the file. If you still get that message, then in fact you are not
running the same versions of Outlook. Restate your problem and the steps you
used to create it more accurately.

We've tried exporting/importing our .pst file from several family laptops
to
the new desktop. And tried using tools/options/data files/new and the
reverse on the new computer but we keep getting a pop up box stating "no
can
do" the incoming .pst is 'non-compatable' with the new desktop. We're
running all the same versions of Outlook and XP. Why isn't this working
or
How can I get around it or upload the contacts by another means?? It's
the
Outlook Contacts that we wish to import.
