Have Windows XP

Installed IE7

(hate it) Nothing has ran smooth since install.
Hate the bulky look of browser too.

Here today's problem:

http links will not open in outlook

yes I did the "control panel / add or remove programs / set program access
and default / internet explorer"

The settings will not stick.

HELP!!
