Very often programs are written based on Windows code. When Windows code
changes, then those programs work differently.
You'll have to deal with the Zone Alarm people to figure out how they messed
it up, but try turning off various options within it and maybe you don't
have to get rid of it.

Thanks for your response. I turned off Zone Alarm Security Suite, and all
was fine, and was able to duplicate the problem by turning it back on.
Several questions/observations.
(1) What current update caused this to happen (if you know) since I have
had
Zone Alarm for a long time?
(2) How can I keep Zone Alarm, and keep using Outlook Express (again if
you
know)?
Thanks for your help, and I am now off to Zone Alarm's site to see if they
can help!

Today, I get an error message each time I try to oipen Outlook Express.
Seemed to work OK for the last several days, and possibly appeared
shortly
after doing some microsoft Windows update through the Windows Update
Website.
It appears the data files and the address book appear intact.
Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry
for the inconvenience.
