EML needs OE to open.
Save the attachment to your HDD. Right click on it and Open With. Find and
choose a program, (In this case, Outlook Express), that works and then check
the box: Always use this program to open this kind of file. This should
enable you to open these attachments in the future.
If they are from an AOL or Compuserve user, (some other servers are changing
too), they may be layered as many times as it has been forwarded. When you
open an attachment and only see a blank page, keep putting the cursor on the
text in the attachment line / Right click / Open. Keep doing this and you'll
eventually get to the original attachment and be able to view it.
You can also highlight the message header and press Ctrl & F3 to just read
the text of the message.

Thank you very much for the response. That makes sense for the issue with
the address book, I'll try cleaning some out.
On the .eml issue, there is no extension even listed. Should I create a
new
one?

2 issues:
Address Book--For some reason, I can no longer view my contacts. It's
not
that I don't have it checked on the "view" list. They still auto-fill
when
I'm composing a message, and I can view them when I select it from the
"tools" menu, but they don't appear in the lower right corner. Just an
empty
box that says "they're no contacts to view". I've looked through every
setting I can think of and can't seem to find anything I might have
switched.
Fowarded Messages--I can view any and all attachment just fine, except
for
a
forwarded message. The .eml file type is no longer recognized, and I
can't
assign OE to open it (even by selecting it from the list). I did
install
Mozilla Thunderbird on a friend's recommendation as a better email
program,
but subsequently removed it after I realized I wasn't too fond of it.
When I
went back to OE, that's when I noticed the problem (FYI the address
book
problem above was prior to installing that software). I've tried to
fix
the
registry but it was to no avail, and I tried reinstalling IE 7
completely
but
that didn't work either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
