Default Outlook does not recognize name, '=smtp:[email protected]'

Using POP3 mail account

I moved the .pst file, then imported it after uninstalling Office and
reinstalling it.

Even after a COMPLETE reinstall (including reinstalling Windows as well
as Office), I continued to recieve an error that indicated MAPI32.dll
was corrupt. I tried 'Detect and Repair', including the 'repair'
option and the 'reinstall' option., neither helped. The recommended
'fixmapi.exe' did not fix it, and I discovered that O2003 uses mapi32
in a different location, and pulled in a copy off the installation
disk, which finally worked. Why 'detect and repair' didn't work
remains a mystery. I understand the slim odds, but nothing else worked
except the intervention of the Gods, and endless searching through
Microsoft KB.

Recipients are selected based on whom I wish to send messages to. As
stated in the intial Posting, I either type in an email address, such
as ', or select a name from my Address book, which
is 'recognized' as a valid address. But when the email message gets
'sent' to the Outbox, "=smtp:" is added to the front of the address so
that " is changed to ",
and it doesn't leave the outbox, even when Send/recieve is forced.
