Bizarre MSIMN, and other problems
My computer is doing it's dead level best to make me crazy. I have a
home-based business and my PC is my livelyhood. Yesterday I started
getting the following error from TAPISRV.EXE: "This program has
performed an illegal operation..."
Clicking on details gives me this:
TAPISRV caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff7b997.

Then, to make things even more fun, I started having Outlook problems.
Whenever I open MS Outlook Express, if I am connected to my ISP it gives
me the following error: "MSINMN: This program has performed an illegal
operation"...yada, yada, yada. You know what I mean.
I hit Details and I get this:

I called a tech support guy I know, and he told me that TAPISRV.EXE has
to do with the modems and Dial-Up Networking and such. Okay, but why
does it also kill Windows Explorer and prevent my desktop icons from
coming up? He told me to shut down and do a cold boot in 5 minutes, but
it didn't work. While searching for the TAPISRV file with the "Find"
utility, I just happened to come accros a copy of TAPSIRV.exe on my
storage drive. Just for giggles I d-clicked on it and everything was
fine, until I had to restart, that is. this rewally has to stop.
As for Outlook Express, I have removed, rebooted and reinstalled MS
Outlook Express twice now with out any resolution of the problem. Is
there something I missed, or should be doing that I'm not?
Any help would be aprreciated.
Thank you
