Outlook 2003 slow with contacts
According to scanpst.exe, both my overall Personal Folder, as well as the one
containing the Contacts, are fine. Is there another way to check?
I can now even get to the point where the Contacts are ok and do not hang my
computer if they are in a sub-folder of the main Contacts folder (Contacts,
with "+" next to it, that when opened leads to another "Contacts").
However, as soon as I try to cut, copy, move to folder, or copy to folder to
get them into the main Contact folder, Outlook starts cycling the CPU. Once
this happens, as soon as I delete them from the main Contacts folder, all
problems stop.
This is driving me crazy!!! Thank you for your help!

Have you checked for any corrupt or damaged Contacts in the Folder before
you moved them? Are you certain you exited Outlook completely before you
copied the PST file?

I have a new computer and am trying to move my contacts from another
computer
to the new one. I'm trying to determine how to best get my contacts into
the
"Contacts" folder without hanging my system. Whenever I get my contacts
into
the Contacts folder Outlook takes over my CPU every 6 seconds or so!
After reading some previous posts, I tried saving the contacts to a .pst
file that I then opened into Outlook as another Personal File Folder.
This
works well and does not take over my CPU until I try to cut / copy the
contacts from this second Person Folder into the main Contacts folder. At
that point, I have the same problem as before with Outlook taking over the
CPU.
Unfortunately, I need the contacts in the main Contact folder so that I
can
link to my Treo. The set-up works perfectly on my other computer, but not
here. Any help would be very much appreciated, as I've already spent
about
16 hours trying different things to get this to work. Thanks!!!
