This is proper behavior. Your choice a 1) put the fax number in some
other unused field. 2) delete the fax number from the contact record. 3)
Prefix the fax number woth some character string like "F" so Outlook can't
tell it's a phone number. 4) Buy an add-in like

stuff automatically in a controlled fashion.
