You cannot receive new e-mail notifications in environments that use the Network Address Translation in Outlook 2002:

After furious head scratching, RandyH asked:

| A user's email doesn't come into his inbox until he clicks on another
| folder, or does a send/receive. I'm guessing by clicking away from
| his inbox to his sent items folder also does a refresh or a
| send/receive.
