I had this exact same problem several months back. You may remember Bruce,
that was on of my problems you were trying to help me with. Shutting down
and rebooting did not fix the problem, nor did closing OE and reopening it.
It was very weird, but later in the day, I simply opened OE and tried
creating a new folder and it worked again. I originally thought there might
be some limit too. I do think I may have compacted all the folders before
trying to create a new one again, but not positive. I would try going thru
the folder compacting procedure and try creating a new folder afterwards.
If not, perhaps just leave it a while and try creating a folder again later
or tomorrow, a reboot first couldn't hurt either. I am no expert or MVP,
but I'm passing this on from my experience, as I spent a great deal of time
on this same problem and it seemed to start working again on its own
without me doing anything specific to fix it, so I'd hate to see you waste
a great deal of time also. Otherwise, follow Bruce's advice to create a new
identity

PS. if this is your real email address ) you should change it
to something like @invalid.net for use on these newsgroups or you can expect
to be bombarded by spam forever. I learned that the hard way too
