Default Why aren't my Outlook Calendar entries showing up?

I type in an event etc to the calendar, hit return, yet nothing ever shows up
on the calendar. I know it's in there, because if I do 'find' it can find
the event or meeting where I expect it to be. I haven't changed any
settings; it's been like this since day 1! It's Outlook 2003...
