Is this standard server a member of a domain or in workgroup mode? The
reason that I ask is that it might come down to the way you are supplying
the user id to logon to the mailbox.

I have Windows 2003 Standard Server running POP3 service. Email
server does NOT require SPA for all client connections. When
connecting with a client (Outlook 2003), if I don't check "Log on using
Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" checkbox for E-mail account
settings, I can't login to receive email. I get prompted for the
password continuously w/o any logon success. If I check SPA checkbox
on the client email settings, I have no problems receiving emails. Why
does the CLIENT works when SPA checkbox is checked off when POP3 Server
doesn't require it?

In general, I want to be able to send/receive email without being
prompted (saving my password).
