I initially had Dell's 4100 series, Windows ME, with Office suite tied into
it. Somehow one day I could not get it to boot up, even with a boot up
disc. I eventually took it to a local geek who installed Windows XP Pro and
also installed all my back up CDs, including Office suite. I still have the
same pc, but a different OS. The OP indicated that he did basically what I
did, had a new OS installed in his old pc.

Most OEM software such as Word that comes bundled with a pc will not
transfer to another pc and O/S, as it's tied to the pc it came with.

If you had Word before (or the entire Office suite), you've already paid
for it. Windows ME uses Word 2000. Don't you have the original CDs that
you got with ME? It should have CDs for the Office Suite, or at least
for Word, since you had it. You just have to reinstall it with the XP
you installed.

Word, Works, Office are all add-ons. Go to the Download Center:

Just had XP installed...used to have ME. I always had "WORD" when
using ME but now, with ZP, I don't. I do have a program called
"Wordpad". Is that XP's replacement for "WORD"? I miss WORD as it
had spellcheck and grammar check which "Wordpad" doesn't have. Do I
have to go back to the computer store and actually buy the program
called "WORD" and then install it myself?
Thanks
