Default Sending voice recording to family

Is there a way to compress a "wav" file to insert into OE? What I would like
to do is record my voice, then insert it into OE, but when I record as a wav
file it is so large it would take several minutes at dialup speeds. If I
convert it to MP3, I can attach it, but not insert it. I think around 10
seconds of recording is nearly 1 meg in file size for a wav file. I have
googled for someway to compress any of the file formats that OE will except
to be inserted, but have not found much. I have Audacity, can record, but
can not save to anything that will insert into OE at a reasonable size. All
I want to be able to do is record something like Merry Christmas from
xxxxxxxxxx, Or Happy New year from xxxxxxxxxxx. Any thoughts on the subject?
Thank you all.
