and this solved the problem. It had to do with an accessibility option
that was checked that "ignored font sizes specified by webpages" or
something like that. I cleared that check mark and all is well.

Funny thing is I don't recall selecting that option in the past, but
nevertheless it was selected...

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test
it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from
the
old identity and delete it.

I don't remember if this started happening before or after I upgraded
to IE 7, but I cannot change the font size in OE messages I compose.
It defaults to 12 and cannot be changed. I can change the font from
Arial to any other style, but not matter what font style I use I

change the size.
