Strange, in that I've used port 25 since the inception of my cable service,
when it originally was with the @Home service, before becoming Comcast. I
see the info on their website, but have never had a problem using port 25
with them although SMTP authentication has been required for the past few
years.
I would still suspect the problem to be an antivirus/antispam program set to
scan outgoing mail, but we'll have to wait for the poster to reply. Thanks,
Mike. Hope to see you this March.

Comcast does support port 587 for SMTP. But also requires SMTP
authentication.

The port number for sending mail with Comcast should be 25 and not 587.
Make sure that you do not have *ANY* antispam or antivirus program set to
scan email and reset the port under Tools/Accounts - Mail tab for the
Comcast account.

Hello:
I receive e-mail via my comcast account, but I am having difficulty
sending. I thought I saw this in here before, but cannot locate it again.
Thanks for your help...here is the error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.comcast.net',
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have double checked my settings and they appear to be fine
