Default Sorting in Contacts vs Address Book

Russ, I hear you. I guess it's hard when one is embedded in the past. I
followed your instructions, made the change and am back in business. Thanks.

I suppose what follows has been asked and answered several times here before
but as a pretty unsophisticated new home 2003 user can I ask how you import
from a previous Outlook 2000 when it's on another machine?

What I have been doing, which is laborious I suppose, is Exporting
individual Folders to a PST file, transferring those files to the new
computer using a portable drive - and then importing the pst files/folders
into the new Outlook. Tell me an easier way. Regards, Denzil.

Indeed, you likely will encounter other problems. Importing is never the
correct way to transfer Outlook data.
Your current problems is simply how to sort the Outlook Address Book. No
question has been answered more often in this group:
Go to Tools E-mail accounts View or change existing directories or
address books Outlook Address Book Change. Set your sort order there

I have a new copy of Outlook 2003 on a new PC and am experiencing
considerable difficulty. For one, and I'm sure there'll be more later, I
imported my Contacts from Outlook 2000 as a .pst file and it displays in
2003 correctly sorted by last name. When I use Address Book mode the names
are sorted first name first and I can find no Sort button to correct it.
Help! Anybody know what I'm talking about? Regards, Denzil.
