I suddenly have lost the directory path in the folder at the top
Tools ribbon,
and I haven't got any idea how to restore it. I cannot use "Return"
or go back,
as no any icon is shown at the top. When I click on MY Computer,
there should be at the top some icons placed, but they are not there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated -
I would suggest that a newsgroup like
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general would be a more appropriate place to
seek an answer. Here you will mostly find Outlook Express experts,
hence the name of the newsgroup.
Thanks, you are correct in principle. However, this "event" occurred
just after the one of "automatic upgrade", which referred to OE.
Hence I assumed that this "event" could not be only "mine"...
Are you the original poster? I missed that information in the first
message.
I am the original poster.
The first message was posted from Outlook Express in WinXP SP2 and this
second message was posted from Windows Mail in Windows Vista beta
release.
The latest Outlook Express update would not have caused this. Did the
problem occur with IE6 or IE7?
To my best knowledge, it happened shortly after uggrading from IE6 to
IE7.
Saying that - I cannot be 100% sure...
For IE6 click View | Toolbars and make sure that the Address Bar is
selected.
This is a basic and I'm familiar with this one...-
But this is IE7.
See below...
For IE7 the Address Bar cannot be removed without a Registry edit. Did
you do that?
No, I haven't done this one, and I don't know how to do it.
Thanks Frank for help.

Okay, you're back on WinXP.
Right click the toolbar and make sure it is not locked and the Address Bar
is checked.
Now grab the handle at the left end of the toolbar and move it sideways and
up and down. If that doesn't reveal the Address Bar do the same with the
Menu Bat.
