As Outlook 2007 doesn't offer the actual integration of Word as email
editor anymore (due to parts of Word having been natively integrated
into Outlook 2007 as its email editor), that's not an issue.

Are there any issues or gotcha's with updating to Outlook 2007 while
keeping rest of Office 2003 (Word, Excel and PPT)?
You won't have any Office integration. For example, you won't be able to
use Word as your mail editor. I don't know if you'll be able to perform any
mail merges, either.
