Thanks for all your help. One more question.
If I had Business Contact Manager, would I have this functionality?

No, you're not missing anything. The only alternative to the UI methods is to write your own VBA code.

My problem is that the list is over 200 names.
I am sending a postcard to 200 contacts in my contact folder--so I've
selected them and am making labels through Word. But I want a note to show up
on their activities tab.
Am I missing another way to do this?

Create the new journal entry for one contact, then add others at the bottom.

Can I link a Word Document to multiple contacts at the same time (a subset of
my entire contact folder?)
An acceptable alternate for my purpose would be a Journal Entry linked to
multiple contacts (without having to select each contact individually) at the
same time. When I select multiple contacts and then try to add "New Journal
Entry for Contact" from the Actions menu, the Journal Entry only includes the
first contact selected in my list.
Thanks for your help.
