Default Retaining a copy of e-mail on the server?

Brian, thanks. After I posted I figured it out, but couldn't find my initial
post to delete it.

Dell has nothing to do with it. See this:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/choosingmode.htm

but I can't figure out how to (if it's even
possible...comcast doesn't support Outlook 2000) keep a copy of my
e-mail on the server after it's been delivered to my Inbox. I know
it's possible in later versions, but does anyone have a clue about
the one I'm using?

There should be advanced properties of the account. Check in ToolsAccounts
and check the account properties.
