Default compacting folders

You can't stop the prompt from showing after 100 closings, and compacting is
a necessity. There are some things you can do to make losing mail less
likely.

Get in a habit of compacting manually before 100 closings. Once a week?
Every two weeks? This will reset the counter back to zero. And the most
important thing is not to touch anything until the compaction process is
complete. That is the most likely reason for message loss.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

And download this freeware OE backup program. Three mouse clicks and you're
done. Do it each day and should you lose messages for any reason, they can
be restored in seconds.

This freeware tool backs up everything in OE in seconds. Disregard what is
written in red. That is referring to a different program.

Compacted all my folders/emails and deleted them and not realising I
empted my recycle bin and have lost the lot.

Is there a way to stop it compacting folders.
