Default OEQB Crashes Majik please help

Steve,

I guess my is hosed. There are 3 identies all named Main PC and I can't
find a way to tell what is the difference (if any) between them, nor do I
know how they got created.

I have used explorer to ensure/give full permissions to all folders/files on
all drives and I ran regedt32 and gave allusers full permissions on
everything in the registry.

In addition to not being able to run OEQB, I get random C++ errors when
trying to run other programs and sometimes when trying to install new
software.

I guess it is time for a clean install.

Thanks for your help,

Steve (Utahbuck)

Those are the backups of the registry keys, which it does first. If its
giving an error 5 then check to see if you have only one Identity or
multiple. It could be choking on a bad Identity. Otherwise its some sort
of permissions issue probably since that message also means access denied.
So I don't know what it could be.

Steve,

I tried what you suggested and then ran the program. I still get the
Run-Time-Error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument. However, I do see
that 3 files have been created in the backup folder: AddressBook.reg,
AllIdenties.reg and IAM.reg.

Are these all of the files that the program creates or should there be
one with the emails.

Thanks,

Utahbuck (also a Steve)

Try resetting the program. Go to this registry key and delete it. Then
see if it works.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OEBackup

The registry already pointed to the backup folder.

The error message is "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or
argument.

Any other thoughts?

Majik,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try tonight and let you know if that
fixes it. (The problem is on my home PC.)

START | RUN
type in regedit
and press ENTER

Navigate to the following by pressing the + signs to expand them:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OEBackup

In the OEBackup value, double click on it and put in the full
pathlist the the folder you want to use as backup

i.e. C:\Old Mail Backup

I just installed OEQB under XP Pro and it crashes when I try to run
it with an error 5 message.

I looked at the oehelp.com site but nothing there.

Any ideas as to what is causing this and what I can do to fix it?
