1. Make sure this update is installed:
Authentication fails when you use Outlook or Outlook Express to try to log
on to a HTTP-based mail server if you use Internet Explorer version 7.0:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904942
2. If the behavior persists, see if Sending from the account works any
better in a new identity (OE File Identities Add new identity). If it
does, (a) compact all folders in the old identity, (b) import messages from
the old identity into the new one (don't bother with any Hotmail folders),
and then (c) delete the old one (File Identities Manage Identities).

IE version?

Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one?
I would have to guess that it pre-dates, by some time, my IE7 update.
I've
just not gotten around to trying to resolve the problem.

After composing an e-mail utilizing my "Hotmail Plus" account, I
receive
the following error...
"An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'XXXXX', Server:
'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail,
Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12019, Error Number: 0x80004005"
Upon closing OE6, I receive a prompt alerting me to messages in my
outbox
and asking me if I wish to send. An affirmative reply results in the
e-mail
being sent.
I'm using WinXP SP2, OE6, Hotmail Plus account and all updates applied.
Why will OE6 only send successfuly upon closing the program?
TIA
