Default Why do i receive calendar notes in an e-mail format?

When i receive a calendar note from the other employees in my office they
come in an e-mail format and is just mumble jumble text rather than the
normal window that includes the accept and decline buttons. Though when i
send a calendar note it comes up in the normal format at the receiving end.
Why is this? What can I do to fix it?
