Default Local Address book not listed

Outlook 2003

I tried to detail it... sorry.

On the left hand column - there is the "share your contacts" option - if you
click that... you get a multi-tab box. One of the tabs is "Outlook address" -
click that and if you check this box (which is grayed out for me) - then
you'll be able to select your local contacts when you click on the "TO" box
in a new mail item.

The question is, why is mine grayed out and is there a work around or a way
to get it ungray. I'd like to be able to select items from my local address
book.

Thanks

What is the "Share my Contacts" option?
What version of Outlook are you using and how did you configure the Outlook
Address Book?

Sending an email to multiple distribution lists from my local contact
folder.
issue:
When I try to pull a contact list from my local contacts (in the "TO"
field
of a new message) - I am unable to choose from the dropdown "show names
from
the" - it's not there... and when I got to the "Share my contacts"
option -
the "Outlook Address" tab is grayed out and I am unable to select
contacts.

Is there a work-around for this? Hopefully my description is enough...
