Do you also have the corresponding IDX files and folders.nch?

With OE4, mail folders are pairs of files. The MBX has the message
and
the IDX is an index. So there would be Inbox.mbx and Inbox.idx. The
import requires both, as well as the folders.nch file which does
folder
hierarchy and file name to folder mapping.

If you have them all, you need to copy them to a folder named "mail"
on
the new PC. Make sure that the read-only attribute has been removed
from them that they got when copied to the CD. Select File, Import
and
point to the folder that contains the "mail" folder, not the "mail"
folder itself. For example, if you place the files in a
C:\OLDDATA\MAIL
folder, you tell OE5+ to import C:\OLDDATA. It automatically adds
the
\MAIL.

If you just have the MBX files, you'll need to go a different route.
You can use one of the following two programs to convert the MBX
files
to EML files (one message per file). Then you can drag-and-drop the
EML
files into an open OE5+ mail folder.

I have messages in inbox.mbx from a CD copied from an old win 95
computer
which I want to import to Win XP OE. Tried OE import, no go! The
.mbx
file
type must be the problem. Is there a work around ? The old win95
machine is
not available, just the CD with OE files - inbox, outbox sent items
etc.

Thank you, it worked beautifully !
