Default 127.0.0.1

No problem, Peter. But when I saw:

Perhaps, but in this case McAfee's VirusScan does not do that, only

SpamKiller.

I had to disagree. Many people use various programs, and any e-mail scanning
program, or spam program can cause this.

A few years ago, I had McAfee for an AV program with e-mail scanning and had
the same problem with my server settings being changed. I have never had a
spam program, let alone SpamKiller.

So all I am saying is that, yes, I agree that McAfee SpamKiller could be a
likely culprit, but if the user does not have McAfee installed, it could be
any spam program, or any e-mail scanning being used.

OE and many third party programs do not get along together. I think we can
agree on that.

Thanks Bruce. I've never used Spamkiller myself as I've always used
Spamcop.

I just hate being attacked for no reason.

Peter, I recall you solving your problem by disabling McAfee SpamKiller.
Since you are a volunteer for McAfee, you should realize that
**everyone** here is also a volunteer.

My standard reply says that this problem can be caused by either e-mail
scanning, or a spam program.

Don't give all the *credit* to McAfee. Norton does not work well with OE
either.

Regardless of the E-mail program I choose to use, I would ///NEVER/// use
any program from McAfee, or Symantec.

As far as the settings being changed to 127.0.0.1, any e-mail scanning,
or anti-spam program can cause this to happen in OE.

I'd wish I could blame it all on one program/manufacturer, but it can
happen with them all.

Go suck a lemon you ape. That's your experience, not mine. By the way
I'm only a volunteer working from home trying (in vain - in your case
you are obviously beyond it) to help people.
People like you make me wonder why anyone helps anyone else at all.

Isn't that nice? Maybe you can explain to people why McAfee (and all
the other av and anti-spam vendors) never test your software,
especially since it results in huge message loss and disfunctionality
for OE users over the last 10 years? Or do you people test it and just
dont give a hoot?

I don't think anyone cares that you change to 124.0.0.1, what they care
about is you have screwed up their system with your SUCKY software over
the years giving the Windows client, and especially OE, users a hideous
experience, of which your company has extensive experience.

He talks about his email server changing to 127.0.0.1...this is normal
for Spamkiller as it acts as local host to filter emails for Spam.
I should know I'm a MOD at McAfee Help.

Guys it has absolutely nothing to do with email scanning and

Eh? The OP only mentions, "McAfee". AV is just as troublesome as AS.
