Default Message at welcome screen...

Meant to include this. Do this first:

While in the Inbox: View | Current View. Make sure Group Messages By
Conversation is not checked and Show All Messages is.

Compact your folders.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Close and reopen OE.

If still no joy, delete the Inbox as previously mentioned.

I have my screen saver set to display the welcome screen and just started
getting the following message under my username: 2 unread mail messages,
when
there are no unread messages in my inbox at all?

This message for some reason never was there before and I've tried logging
off, restarting the PC and sending myself 2 test e-mails, leaving them
unread
in the inbox, then opening Outlook again to delete them, but this same
message still appears on the welcome screen.

What to do? I've got all the most recent Microsoft updates and am using
Win.
XP Home with SP2.
