Default Compacting

You're not confusing the Recycle Bin with Deleted Items by any chance? I can
see from your message headers that you are fully patched, so you should see
bak files in the RB after you compact.

When you compact, do you see the normal compacting dialog box, and then
another above and to the left that says copying? You should be.

Do you have a third party program like Crap Cleaner that is set to empty the
RB at a certain time?

This is due to a recent OE update, (KB923694). Now when you compact, a
copy of your dbx files are sent to the Recycle Bin in the event that
something should go wrong and messages, or entire folders, are lost when
you are compacting.

I've read this a couple of times, but there are no dbx files in my recycle
bin, and I've *manually* used the Compact feature twice in the past month.
I wonder if the files are automatically deleted from the recycle bin after
compacting is done.
