download the complete install package from microsoft IE7 site.
what I did to update mine was use MSCONFIG and disable all Startup items.
reboot.
Install DOWNLOADED IE7.
reboot.
run MSCONFIG and enable le all startup items.
reboot.

IE7 runs flawlessly with no[problems.
