Default Office 2007

Russ,

I've found if I open my Outlook 2003 .pst file and then see two Contacts
folder within Contact, the new default Contacts folder in 2007 and the one
that is in my 2003 .pst and I then attemtp to 'drag and copy' my contacts
from the 2003 Contacts folder into the default 2007 Contacts folder Outlook
overall then slows to a crawl and especially when creating a new message my
type stalls and hangs. If I then delete the copied contacts from the 2007
Contacts folder the Outlook 2007 performance runs normally.

The problem is keeping my old 2003 .pst around simply to get to my contacts
is a causes me to have to scroll to that contact list every time I need to
find a contact when say looking for a contact when hitting TO: in a message.

You don't import Outlook data. You can simply use the same data file.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

Did you have a question? Both versions use the same format. Nothing to
convert.
