Default Why can't create or edit appointments in Outlook?

When I select "New Appointment" or try to edit an existing appointment,
nothing happens, but there are no error messages displayed. The Outlook.pst
file is shared with another user on the same PC, and the pst file is in the
Shared Documents folder. The second user is able to edit and create new
appointments. However, I'm able to edit contacts and email, which is also
shared. Any ideas what's happening, or does anybody know where there's a log
file that may indicate the problem?
