I was actually experiencing the same issues (Outlook 2007 won't shut down
completely) as well as it would lock up on the first time I opened it. I
would have to end the OUTLOOK.EXE process in Task Manager, then reopen in to
get my e-mail.
Anyway...I also have a Logitech corless bluetooth keyboard (MX5000), and
problem is actually the Logitech SetPoint software. I uninstalled it and
Outlook now works fine. Maybe you want to try that and see if you have
similar results?

As for this problem .. thanks again for the link ... I don't have any of the
programs listed in their list .. but I do use a Logitech Bluetooth cordless
desktop .. I didn't install the sync function because I dont use a pda ...
but it's possible that it is still hooking to outlook .. will have to dig
deeper into this problem ... one thing that stikes me as funny is ... they
list 3 programs written to fix or workaround this problem .. you would think
that microsoft would fix it ... also funny that in their list they list
having the delete files on exit as a cause ... I took that setting off .. it
was something I did use and like .. but .. I still couldn't shut it down...
I dont see an addon section in 2007 like in the older versions .. and it
figures the only program that 'intergrated' into Outlook .. says it only
works on versions up to 2003
So if I dont feel like shutting it down by ending the task .. I have to run
another pogram in my tray ... I already have way too much running in the
background .. lol .. Guess I can write a script using AutoIt to launch
Outlook .. wait till it sees the program window close .. then kill the task.
This way it doesnt have to run in my tray constantly ... and I would only
have to use that script the first time I launch it after a restart.
I never had this problem with Office XP but I guess this problem has been
around for a long time ... so I guess MS will never fix it
Thanks again for the info .. guess I will have to fix the problem myself
too bad MS wont pay me for doing their job

I run Outlook 2007 on Windows XP Pro SP2. When I reboot my computer ...
the first time I start Outlook and go to close it ... It still runs in
task manager. It doesn't use any CPU time so normally I would just say the
heck with it but .... it does use anywhere from 66M to 127M of ram and I
noticed when if I continue to let it run it slowly uses more and more
ram... I can open and close it as many times as I want yet it still runs
in TM. I have to end task on the process to get it to shut down .. Once I
have ended task on the processes and launch Outlook again ... when I close
it .. it closes properly and anytime after that it shuts down fine ...
it's only after my computer has been rebooted and it's run for the first
time. I guess to solve this problem I could just never shutdown or reboot
my computer .. lol
Any ideas?
LOL and one more thing ... I suck at spelling but at the moment outlook
express is my only news reader .. can anyone tell me how I can get it to
update it's spell checker .. I just tried to run it on this message and
the word 'run' wasn't in the dictionary .. lol
