Nope, they just go away except for 4 or 5 basic ones. The funny thing is
that I can go directly to a newsgroup and they will come back again. If I
don't do that, then I have to close out Outlook Express and open it back up
for the toolbar to go back to normal. It's an aggravating booger for sure.

If that's the case, you will have to live with it. It comes and goes and
has been doing so for years. It is an issue that will never be addressed
by MS.

You can grab the bottom of the toolbar with the cursor and push it up, and
then back down to get the buttons back to their regular size.

I go for weeks with no problem, and then it happens a number of times a
day.

Some people choose to use small icons and even no text to compensate. I
don't bother, but a choice if you want it.
