I finally got back to this project and tried what you suggested
Configure the account properly. Then in Tools- Options- tab Mail
Setup- button Send/Receive- button Edit...- uncheck receiving of emails.
I am now using Office 2003 and when I get to the Edit screen (Send/receive
Settings – All Accounts). I do not see a check box for “Receiving of Emails”
What I do see is:
Include the selected account in this group
Send mail items
Get folder unread count
All three are checked
Below these options is a box “Folder Options” and none are checked.
What am I missing???

That one isn't available in Outlook 2000. Send/Receive groups were
introduced in Outlook 2002/XP. The only thing you can uncheck in Outlook
2000 is to check for new mail every x minutes on the Mail Delivery tab.

not can I set up Outlook on the same PC to just be used to send from

and still have AOL for everyday mail send/receive.
