I don't know what you mean by "mail support mode" and there was nothing
overt that I know about that caused the missing entries. There is nothing
in common that I can see among the missing entries.

2000, the steps you took just before "recently," and which Contacts are
missing. Things like this do not happen randomly and for no reason.
