Go to File | Identities and setup a new Identity and see if things work okay
in that Identity. If so you can use File | Import | Messages to get them
from the older Identity.
There is no need to update or reinstall.

Thanks for your immediate response. I took a gander at the MSFT input and
hesitate to do anything w/ the registry as it suggests. I suppose I
should
install SP2 and then see what happens next before attempting to fix this
minor problem experienced while still running SP1.
Regards.

See if this helps. BTY, are you sure you're using XP/SP1? The numbers you
posted don't jive, and if they did, you should have upgraded to SP2 more
than two years ago.

XP home, SP1. Almost every time I "minimize" IE6 Outlook Express (OE)
after viewing and interacting in my email and newsgroups, a pop-up
window
appears stating
"Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are
sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something,
the
information you were working on might be lost. For more information
about
this error, click here ('close' button)."
"click here" brings up this additional information which reads:
AppName: msimn.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1807 ModName:
shlwapi.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1740 Offset: 000054e4
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
