After furious head scratching, New to Outlook asked:

| When I close Outlook 2003 and reopen it, all of the Past Due Recurring
| Appointments keep sounding off! The Past Due Alert comes up each
| time Outlook starts up. It's really annoying! Is there a way to
| program Outlook to ignore Past Due Recurring Appointments, and only
| alert me when the next one comes up? Thank you for your help with
