As Russ said, you must remove the Outlook Address Book service from your
mail profile (if it's there) and then add it in again.

In ToolsServices, if you see "Outlook Address Book", select it and click
Remove (or Delete - I don't remember the exact name of the button). Stop
and restart Outlook. Then click ToolsServices and add it in again. Stop
and restart Outlook one more time. You should now be able to click the
check box you mentioned.
